Backfeeds

Renovations and repairs of critical infrastructure occur frequently in the healthcare setting. When they involve shutdowns of medical gas or vacuum systems, it is often necessary to feed affected hospital departments with temporary supplies of gas/vacuum. Medpipe’s backfeed service is devoted to meeting this need. We have the personnel, equipment, and experience to manage the entire process from pre-project walk-through and consultation to final verification. We provide equipment such as cylinder carts, regulators, portable suction, etc., per the project requirements (the facility is responsible for procuring gas from their regular supplier). Our trained ASSE 6030 and 6040 technicians handle all set up, monitoring, and break down of the backfeed equipment. Our ASSE 6030 Verifiers perform the certification required when the contractor’s work is done. Careful coordination with facility managers, respiratory departments, clinical staff, and contractors is key when turning off everyday supplies of gas or vacuum.
